No one quite knows how the city got it's name. At least.. It doesn't seem like it was always called that.
'Shades Run'.
A strange name for a strange place. But when was it when the strangeness started? When was it when lines between reality and fiction began to blur and give way to the city's stranger inhabitants?
Most will blame it on the sudden influx of refugees from a nearby city. The increase in anthros, robots, and even aliens could very well be attributed to the city's overall peculiarity, but who was to say that the Run hadn't been like that before? Truly, if you were to ask around, long-time residents have always sensed something.. off about the town.
The small town in the Colorado mountains had always seemed out of touch. Miles away from other major cities or towns, it barely boasted anything but basic shops and residency housings. Established 1880, no one can really recall why the little town is strange, it just seems like it always was.
Perhaps, where it would shine most would be it's tourist attractions. That was, if there was any great ones. Most prominent is it's ski-lodge, though, to be fair, most people glance over it, going to better ones around the Colorado area. Perhaps more interesting is the Shady Caverns, a family run cavern tour in the more rural areas of the town.
But even then, it seems isolated. Out of contact. The residents even before recent events had always seemed to be those of a stranger sort. Either way you put it, Shades Run was odd.
Under the command of an unknown mayor, the Run might as well be under anyone's else wing. The encroaching waves of weirdness seem to show no preference, and as the days pass, civilian's ambitions seem to grow.
It's just a matter of finding out their true intents.
